Berlibee
Hello guys, What are the options for the small Metal Halides please, anyone have something small as a supplement light run with an ATI Sunpower? Thanks! Link to comment
supernip
please specify what you're actually asking. are you asking about wattage or physical fixture size? because i have what you're looking for both :3 Link to comment
Berlibee
Well small with small voltage and cheap is ideal, I was just wondering if there is a way to add a MH source to T5 Sunpower, like many people do with led stripes, without spending lot of money for expensive MH fixtures and not to overkill the tank. supernip
yes if you're willing to pop out a bulb or two. you can get the reflector from an old bricks fixture or older aquamedic/fishneed it halide then pop it in. the 70w bulbs are hard to find now but they'll fit in the 2inch thickness of your fixture. I happen to have both a retrofit and an aquamedic sitting around :3 not really worth the effort though if you ask me Link to comment
4x5
Just use LEDs to supplement. Link to comment
Berlibee
And something like this? http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/bimini-sun-double-ended-hqi-metal-halide-reflector-hamilton.html?sku=209600&gclid=CMKg7tqq2s8CFdQ7gQodND8Jjg Link to comment
evilc66
What are you trying to achieve by adding a supplemental MH lamp? Are you looking to add broad coverage? Spotlight? Warmer color temperatures? Cooler? Be as specific as you can. There are some options out there outside of the usual fishy related MH setups, depending on what you are trying to do. Link to comment
Berlibee
I think I will just go with the Blue ReefBrite thanks guys. Link to comment
blasterman
Automotive HID does the trick with low voltage and low cost. The problem I found is HID plummets in terms of efficiency when you drop below 150 watts. I found 35watt HID retrofits astonishingly dim compared to LED. We need some high powered LED picks for this.
