Canadianeh
I will start of with thanking to many of you that have been answering my relentless questions. Finally some of my orders have arrived, and more to come. I will be starting with posting the gears pictures (for those of you who are a gear junkies like me ;-)), and then I will start posting pictures when I start putting them together. IM Fusion 40 IMHO is very well built and the craftsmanship really show. My equipment list: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/377198-saltwater-new-set-up-buy-list/ Link to comment
Canadianeh
Please help me on aquascaping! I am terrible at it. Also, I think the individual size of each rock is too big, and I think I can break them to smaller pieces. What do you guys think? Model#1 Model#2 Model#3 Model# 4 Link to comment
Spec
I would take the two largest pieces and use them to prop up one of the others like a table, to make a cave. Something like #3&4 is looking nice, but needs more space in the opening so it looks like a cave or arch. In pic #4 I would swap the big rock on the left for the smaller one that's holding up the cave on the right, and try to get more negative space in the hole. So it's an arch on the right, running down to an island, or peninsula on the left. Link to comment
WelcomeD
Like #3. FYI, noticed that you purchased TUNZE 9004, but if you will place it in the first stage of IM 40 sump, you may need one media basket only. Link to comment
uwdanno
Great choice of tanks. IMO I would break up 1 or maybe even 2 of those rocks. 3 larger rocks stacked can tend to look a bit unnatural. A mix of smaller and larger pieces would be nice. Link to comment
Canadianeh
This is what I am thinking too. I will break off one or two big rocks and integrated the smaller pieces. I like #3 as well but three big rocks of the same size look a bit awkward IMO and take too much water space in this tank. I am soaking all of the rocks in RODI water now. My plan is to wait for 48 hours and then measure for phosphate level. Can I keep the top of the rubbermaid on while soaking them? Link to comment
uwdanno
Yea you can leave the top off. Break up just one first and mess around with the scape. Option 3 is nice. You may end up breaking up the rock on the left and stacking the pieces to make a smaller structure. Single rocks always appear a bit out of place This is making me miss the fun of a new tank! uwharrie
Look at all the neat toys! Let us know how you like the smart digital test kit. I met one of the company reps last year. They have a good reputation in the swimming pool industry for test kits and I really liked the simplicity of their kits ( but was out of my price range at the time) Link to comment
Canadianeh
So I put a pump in the rubbermaid with the rocks in RODI water to get some circulation going as another member's advice While waiting for the rocks, I did some DIY and added motion sensor LED in the tank stand. I use the stand for temporary storage for items that will be installed on the tank, so it won't look that jammed pack in the future. Link to comment
Canadianeh
OK. So the rocks have been in RODI water for 48 hours and Phosphate level is O or too low to read. I used the Idip and it is really easy to use. I tested twice and both times show the same result. I am still waiting for my salt and Aquaforest glue to arrive to aquascape my tank so I will continue to soak the rocks and maybe test it again in few days. Link to comment

Canadianeh
I personally like #6 as well. I did all of those with the "help" LOL of my 5 years old son. He was so proud of it he even asked me to take picture of him in front of each model. He is one of my reasons to started saltwater tank I don't have Brute bin or large enough bin to mix saltwater all at once. If I mix them in a 5 gallons bucket x 7, do I need to use heater at all? If not, will it kill my live sand? My plan is to fill up my tank in following order: Lay down the rocks Lay down the live sand Pour 7 buckets of saltwater mix in the course of 7 days. I have to leave it in overnight for each bucket that I make. Will this method be an issue, or kill my live sand? the heater in the tank will not be turned on until the tank is fill up. Smithjm5
You should be fine waiting to heat all the water once it's in the tank. Link to comment
