I have a 34 g. Red Sea cube with curved edges. I recently added sand to my tank. I noticed some scratches mostly in the corner. Im assuming I got a little sand on the magnet.

 

Any tips for me to prevent this in the future?

 

Any other magnet or cleaning methods that are safer?

plastic card, such as credit card would help. I use a mag float and a nimble for most, but i always check it for sand before use.

Yeah, don't use close to the sand. I have one as well, but never go close to the sand bed cause the Velcro will pick up sand. Stay an inch or two away, then use a credit card like ezcompany says or get something like the Flipper or Tunze Care to get down to the bottom. I have the Tunze & it works good, but I hear the Flipper is even better.

Just don't get sand caught in between. I have scratches from the same thing. The only preventing is not going close to the sand with the mag floats
