LED Ideas for a BC29 that could be used in a larger tank when I upgrade

Longtime FW aquarist, feeling ready to take the plunge to SW. I was originally looking for something in the 55-90ish gallon range but a buddy just upgraded his SW tank and is selling his whole BC29 minus lighting for $40.

I've been researching starting a SW tank for almost a year now since buying a house, and had planned on getting something bigger. With this good deal on the BC, I feel ready to give it a go.

I'd like to have some softies and eventually some LPS, and would like to purchase an LED system that would work for the Biocube, but also be usable if I outgrow it and decide to upgrade. So I'd like to either buy a cheaper LED setup that I wouldn't feel bad replacing, or buy a higher quality LED that could be transferred to a larger tank.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

A lot of LED lighting is pendant lighting therefore when you upgrade to a larger tank, you most likely would have to buy additional pendants.

Alot of ppl use the Ai Prime, nanoboxes, kessil on the biocubes. But if upgrading to say 55 - 90g you would need an additional light for the coverage of the tank length.

If you want cheaper lighting these options are good and won't break the bank.

Aquamaxx - you may have to hang this

Current Orbit - may have to hand this

Get the marsaqua fixture. There are a few variants, and hundreds of sellers on ebay. One would be perfect for a bc29. They are advertised as 165 and 180 watts, but are under driven. They are also bright as hell. If you upgrade to a larger rank just buy a second and put one on each side.

They run under $100.
