Has anybody seen the Artfully Acrylic drop-off aquariums? http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/artfully-acrylics-reef-crest-aio Check out the videos on their page. Gotta love the ridiculous dub step to go with it. There's much more of a platform for aquascaping. Plus there's no 4" stand that it sits on. Asked why he said he would rather have a AA tank as the IM had a nice bow to it......I did see the bow myself and was not liking what I saw...... Link to comment

Artfully Acrylic Posted November 7, 2016 Share Posted November 7, 2016 Hi guys, just found this post. Thanks for the props/love! Our Reef Crest 17 is equivalent in volume to the IM Abyss. The Reef Crest 17 is made with 1/2" acrylic vs the thinner acrylic used in the Abyss for good reason. A rimless acrylic tank needs thicker material than equivalent glass. IM has a lot of experience with glass tanks, not so much with acrylic. Further, the source of acrylic used is important. The best source of acrylic is from USA manufacturer's or Plexiglas manufacturer Arkema in Mexico. There are many differences that justify the price difference. Why you see more about IM Abyss is simply a matter of scalability. ArtFully Acrylic is a small custom fabrication shop. The Abyss is mass manufactured in China and distributed around the world. Most Reef Crest's are built to order and include optional accessories and body color choices.
