RBTA Split

so this is my first time having a RBTA, i used to have a 60G with a other form of anemone 5 years ago which i dont remember. though yesterday when looking at my tank everything looked normal and handy dandy, except my nem moved locations to under a rock late in the day. Only thing i did do was a normal 2G water change in my 5G nano that i normally do every Thursday every week. Water parameters have always been good as my water top off keeps salenity in check and i do weekly water changes. I do feed 5 drops of Roti Feast everyday and have amazing coral growth with a few pellet every other day to feed my clown, bleeny, and cleaner shrimp. i was curious as to what causes RBTA's to split as i've only had the guy for maybe 2 weeks and when fully extended looks to be 3-4". I run a NanoBox Tide Mini Plus M and last night as a part of my Lunar cycle the tank was pitch black. Not only did my RBTA split but my cleaner shrimp also molted his skin aswell which of course he's done a few times already.

I've only had one split due to stress. But supposedly they can split when everything is fine too. I notice that your tank is a little overstocked. I'd probably try to trade your LFS (or fellow reefer) your nem for a coral or something else. What are your tank's water parameters?

Thats the plan, just going to make sure the little fella is completely healed before sending to the LFS. as for water parameters they usually never change. really wish my two larger tanks were up as i'd just throw the larger one in there lol. Corals are always open and happy, polps always extended. little types of not so light intense SPS i have are extended and growing well.

Ammonia- 0

nitrates-0

nitrites-0

ph-7.8

salenity-1.026

ca-440

pho-0(dont trust that test kit though.)

dont have a alk test kit either.

Oh yeah i forgot to add the fish mentioned are both 1.5" big so they look tiny in this tank lol. figured id get them as close to babies as i could so hopefully when i have my huge tank up and ready they just go in there onces they get bigger. Same goes for the cleaner shrimp barely being bigger then 1"

Unless you are trying to run an ULNS by dosing carbon and supplementing with amino acids, phosphate should be low but detectable. I'd recommend a Hanna ULR Phosphorus Checker, or even a Salifert phosphate test kit.

I dont dose anything but i have a little bit of carbon in the tank and chemi pure elite. And yeah been looking around my LFS for those brands but sadly they dont carry them. Going to have to order online.

When I say dose carbon, I mean a carbon source like vinegar, sugar, or vodka, and not granulated activated carbon. Keep in mind that I'm not recommending carbon dosing (or amino acids), but I'm just stating that you should normally be able to detect phosphate (and typically some nitrate).

The reason that I started down this path was that I wanted to know more about your water quality. Sudden changes (due to your water change) might help explain a split due to stress. This could have been due to temperature, salinity, a difference in phosphate or some other parameter, or something else. Who knows, maybe it was just happy and thought this would be a good environment for a clone.

ah got you, yeah no idea little fellas been looking well over the past 2weeks i've had it with 2 water changes. still using the same salt batch, and RODI water. Actually just got back from a LFS and the owner is happy to take one of them once i see that its grown a mouth. As of now since the morning it has already completed circling itself and its tentacles are extended, not all squished inside itself by any means. Only time i've seen it annoyed before was if my cleaner shrimp gets close and one of its antennas touches a tentacle lol. Tested everything again earlier today and water quality is still in the clear. Only thing i can think of is after the water change it might have got a little bit of a shock possibly from it being fresh cleaner water? i usually try to keep the specs near identical but some water changes temp may be off by a degree or two max. IDK im no expert at this lol. really do appreciate the help though.
