Cooling Fan DIY

so.. i need a cooling fan.

i decided on a fan designed to cool entertainment centers, so here goes:

I ordered the AC infinity fans off of amazon, and the controller. the company has great reviews

I also ordered the controller that I can set to kick the fans on when the room temp rises (the temp probe can't be in water) but that's ok for the application as it will probably only kick on from 2-5 on the hottest days in my place..

I also ordered 2 kydex sheets off fleabay (12 x 12 square) thickness of .08 and .118

the fans will mount to the wall in a slotted mount so they can easily be removed and pulled out of the way for maintenance, cleaning etc...

if you don't know what kydex is, look into it.. great stuff, and I've made all kinds of clips/ mounts for the tank

also, the cool thing about these fans.. you can add more in a chain.. i'll add one inside my stand to keep my LED power converter cooled down, and also hook it up to the controller.

i'll post a few steps with pics this weekend

Kydex cut and bent.. what u see is all that's required to work with kydex

the cradle.. just bent in a "v" with one side longer to screw

they all chain together with their own connections.. you can also boost the fan more with the controller.. you can daisy 4 fans total, the controller has two usb plugin ports

also, these fans are super quiet

I need to pick up some different screws, and should have used .118 kydex for the cradle.. it's a little too flimsy, but fixable

there is no electoral/wiring involved at all.. just plug it in

ok, so after reading the directions, the controller has a smart mode where the fans slowly ramp up based on temp.

this will work out very well I think.. pretty intuitive

Cool DIY.

You can also attach the temp. probe on the outside of the tank, that way the controller will read the temp. off of the tank's instead of the room. Gonna check those fans on amazon.

it really works great on the room temp.. I have it adjusted to slowly ramp up.. won't change it because it works better than factory fans I've read about
