is one Ecotech MP10wqd is sufficient for IM Fusion 40 gallon tank?

If not, is it better to get 2 x MP10, OR one MP40?

Of course getting one MP40 will save you more money.

I know those are very powerful powerheads. Deoending on the coral you keep will depend on the turnover rate you need.

The im 40 has two returns, you may not need an additional powerhead depending on the gph of the return pumps. Some will just get the spin stream nozzels and attach them to the return instead of using the standard nozzel that come with it.

Some might upgrade the return pumps.

What are you planning on keeping fir corals?

I am planning to start with few clowns, shrimps, and clean up crews. For corals, I plan to start with something hardy such as softies coral, and maybe one SPS only. And yes, I will put spin stream on both of the return nozzles.

Maybe I should just get one MP10 then, or should I get one MP40?

You may not need the mp's. Look up IM 40 builds on here, google, and youtube. You will get an idea of what others have done.

Softies and lps don't like high flow and adding the mp may be too much with the 2 returns. Until the tank is set up and running, you really won't know.

Sps corals I wouldn't suggest until the tank is established. About a yr or so. They require very stable conditions, high water quality, and high light.

I couldn't find much but 1 person has the mp10 in theirs. I've seen jebaos in others and I've seen none used in others.

What you could do, is set up the tank, do the aquascape, decide on what corals you want then decide if you want/need to add another source of flow or if the spin streams are the option you want to go with. You may not need the spin streams with an mp10.

Ultimately it will depend on corals and aquascape.

I would get two tunze 6040. You can hide them so well. Theyre awesooooome.

It is much cheaper than Ecotech too. I wonder how is the build quality and reliability though.

Have had mine almost a year. Works incredibly well, never had an issue. Tunze is a respected brand.

I'm waiting on my order from Ecotech. I ordered two Mp10's. I'm gonna run them low and anti-sync to get some nice wave action. I plan on doing a mixed reef once my tank is really established. However, my tank is an all out for the best equipment....

I still need to get a build thread going on here.
