inTank Posted September 28, 2016 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Design Help Needed Hey Fish Tank Friends- We just got the aquarium in and like most recent Fluval tanks it's a head scratcher and we would like your help in developing an effective Media Basket. Where would be the ideal place for a basket go in YOUR setup, chamber one under the intake or chamber two? There are challenges in design of both chambers so we would like to make a product that would work for almost everyone. Any other ideas you wish to share would be appreciated. Preferably a design that forced water to go THROUGH the entire media basket to the bottom and back up through chamber two. Not a fan the side slits between 1 and 2 Also - I vote to be an entirely objective tester if you need one Link to comment
Boggers Posted September 28, 2016 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I would have thought Chamber 2. Catch all the side slits, and push the water up and over. That way you can still use Chamber 1 for a skimmer and not have to mod the hood. Link to comment

FlamingPrawn Posted September 28, 2016 Share Posted September 28, 2016 And i ended up getting rid of the lid on mine... no one uses stock lights here on NR lol we all use Mini Tides! but yeah I don't think a skimmer would be necessary on a 13. I'll use the 2nd chamber for a fuge if necessary w/ the ATO sensor Link to comment

Water enters filter floss first then and is forced through. Another head scratching design by Fluval on this one. Lovely they put a piece that sticks out in CH1 to hold their junk skimmer. Chamber two could work, but to make it more then just a holder of media would have to try and block as much water as possible and force it through the top slits, that way filter floss is accessible without removing the basket and protects media bags from detritus. The day before I was planning on doing something and taking them to the office this happened. They were sitting on my table next to the couch in the living room. When the wife came home she found this This is suspect #1, but he isn't saying much and lawyer up'ed. The case is still open Link to comment
