White slime/film keeps growing on tank sealant

Hey all,

Been getting my 10 gallon nano more and more dialed in each day but noticed something odd: a white slimy film on my tank sealant along the corners.

The tank is a 10 gallon Aqueon (rated for both fresh and saltwater). When I first got it (brand new) I wiped it down with distilled water, filled it up, and let it start cycling. A few days into the cycle I noticed the sealant in the corners seemed a little hazy so I wiped them with my finger (on the inside) and a huge amount of excess sealant rubbed off (like an excess was applied but never wiped off at the factory). I chalked this up to me not cleaning thoroughly enough before filling so I rubbed off all of the excess sealant and cleaned it out of the water.

Enter one week later with my tank now having a few corals and some CUC's and I noticed a little bit of white slime come off the corner sealant when I was cleaning the glass with my magnetic scrubber. When it happened the first time it was definitely excess sealant...but now it seems like a white, mostly transparent slime covering the sealant. It's not visible from the outside so I don't mind leaving it if it's just a part of life/the system. But wanted to make sure it isn't a beginning sign of a bigger issue like sealant breakdown or what not.

Again, the slime isn't sealant itself leaking or breaking off but a slime covering it.

Thanks!

I'm not sure. You may want to contact Aqueon just to be on the safe side. I have an Aqueon 15g and never had an issue with a slime or access sealant.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with some suggestions

Thanks. I guess I am more or less asking if tank sealant is a usual spot for slime/algae/other micro growth to sprout up like this? It easily wipes off. And the actual sealant itself is still in tact/undamaged.

The haze is pretty normal. So is a slimy bio-film covering the glass and sealant. Be careful not to damage the sealant when scrapping the glass near it.

I'll leave it be and probably just wipe it down with my finger during my weekly water changes. Or hope the CUC's stop being so lazy and clean it lol
