How do you clean your skimmer?

so tomorrow I'm going to go through the difficult task of cleaning out one of my skimmers. i never clean this thing. Only once have i cleaned this thing and i could barely get the body clean. Now i think its time again as I'm having cyano, GHA and coraline growing in it. just curious how do people get their skimmers clean? this one is a reef octopus 110.

Get a bucket or tub. 5 gallon home depot bucket works great. Fill it with tap water about 6 to 8 inches, throw a shit ton of white vinegar in, and plop that bad boy in there. Turn it on for 12 to 24 hours. Take it out, take apart, wipe and rinse. Good as new.
