gheagney
I've spent some time trying to search, and have seen very little on it, which makes me think there must be a reason why many aren't doing it. I was wondering if there is any benefit to adding a refugium to the 1st chamber of a Biocube 29? If not, why? Would one work there? I currently have a media rack in chamber 2, and am planning on adding a Tunze as well. I know I could put a different skimmer in chamber 1, then run a fuge rack in the second chamber along with the media rack, but I'm not sure about the Aquatic Life skimmer over the Tunze. I appreciate any advice or input. Thanks, Gene Link to comment
ReefWeeds
I ran a biocube and here's why I don't think it would work. You want the refugium after floss/filtration otherwise it will become a massive detritus trap. Plus, you want the pods and beneficial creatures to not get stuck in filtration that is placed after the refugium. Just my $.02 Link to comment
gheagney
Thanks for the input. That was the main reason I imagined it would not be ideal. Link to comment
davidcwoods
I have the hydor slim skim nano in chamber 1. It fits like a glove and works very well. You'll need to make a shelf out of egg crate to make sure it stands at the correct level though. Chamber 2 is great for the Intank media racks IMO. I'm experimenting with a drop algae scrubber instead of the fuge. Link to comment
