Dekon70
Well, I decided to set up a BC29 that was given to me. When I first got into reef keeping, it was the first tank I had. Sold it when I upgraded to a 65 gallon. OK, now my question. Am I going to get a cycle if I take 10-15lbs of LR from my 65(+10-15lbs of Marco dead rock) and a cup or two of sand from it to seed the new sand bed? I feel that I will get a small cycle from it. Am I correct or will I get a full cycle in it. Thanks Link to comment
Water Dog
It may help speed up the cycle, but the only way to know for sure is to test for the big 3 during the cycling process... NH3, NO2 and NO3. Link to comment
seabass
The live rock shouldn't cause an ammonia spike, but the dead rock sure can. I'd cycle the dead rock separately so that it doesn't affect the beneficial life on the live rock. Once ammonia is undetectable, you can add it to your tank with the live rock. Link to comment
