oysterk
My clownfish's mate just died, they've been together for over 5 years now. What should I do?! Should I get another clownfish to keep him from being lonely? Please help, I don't want him to die too Link to comment

Nixperience
Get a smaller one and watch him go through a sex change. Link to comment
Dramad1
If you did get another, I'd get a smaller one then the one you have. I'd also stick it in an acclimation box for a few days in the tank so that your current clown can get used to him. There is a chance that your current clown could attack the new one, the longer you wait to introduce a new one, the more chance of your current clown to become territorial and tank dominate, esp if you have no other fish in the tank. Just my opinion. Link to comment
1.0reef
Clowns haven't been known to die of loneliness. Do what you want to do. Have never heard of this before, especially because clownfish aren't mates for life, and they aren't incredibly intelligent either. Link to comment

FlamingPrawn
If you feel the need to get another make sure its smaller. Then like everyone said the sex change will happen. Not necessary to have them in a pair but you can if you want Link to comment
