Chiller question

Hi,

 

I recently moved to a much bigger place. In previous place I was able to keep the temperature in the apartment at at 72 degrees. This kept my nano at a temp of about 77-78. Since moving I cannot keep my house at 72 because the power bill would be cost prohibitive. The temp of the nano would rise to 82-83 degrees. I decided to get a chiller. I repurposed a water cooler to act as a chiller. It works well. I have set it up so the chiller kicks on at 78.5 and off at 77.5. Attached is a temp graph of my tank. My question, is the temp fluctuation ok? Should I set the temperature range to something else?

It seems to be working well. I keep the temperature closer to 80, but what you are doing seems fine.

Remember its all about gradual change in temps, no shock. So, what does that mean? Any sudden change from hot to cold or vice versa will affect your inhabitants adversely to possible death. Gradual swings in very long successions are best and acceptable in this hobby, unless you have specific corals like SPS then it's different, you want to stay consistent as possible.
