hooligan_78
Well after around 4 years of being out of the hobby, I set up an IM Fusion 20. Then, I went to MACNA San Diego and saw all the great captive bred fish and got the itch again. So, I am going to try breeding a pair of yellowtail damsels and build a compact system as space is limited in my apt in the city. Updates and pics to come! 3 Quote Link to comment
hooligan_78
Got my pair in on Friday, left them at the shop, came to work today, and one of the pair is missing and nobody knows anything... Quote Link to comment
hooligan_78
Now that I know plumbing so much better (as I do it for a living), I've got some ideas about the system I'm going to build. In our basement at the shop we have a bunch of bottom drilled 10 and 20 gallon tanks. I'm going to plumb them all together on one sump. I'll do a 10 brooder, 10 hatch, and a 20g growout. My plan for the hatch tank is to plumb it with a small airline tubing for the return, and build stand pipes in increasing increments to us as the drain. Since water level, and nutrient export is a problem with hatch tanks, I'm hoping this will help stabilize everything. So basically on the hatch tank the return initially will be 1/4" tubing and I'll also do a 1/2" return valved so I can use it as the fish get bigger. These are the stacks just sitting around. 1 Quote Link to comment
Boggers
why the yellowtail damsels, instead of clowns? Quote Link to comment

hooligan_78
So now I'm thinking 2 broodstock tanks and 2 hatch tanks. Still same plumbing idea. Let the paint scraping begin! 3 more to go. Quote Link to comment

hooligan_78
Well i received an offer on my Fusion 20 which I'm trying to sell so I can get the breeder operation going. The girlfriend's caveat is I have to move a huge mirror and re-hang it on a cement wall. So gonna get that done fast haha. 1 Quote Link to comment
hooligan_78
Update: Hit a major snag. GF and I called it quits, so I no longer have the space I need for the setup as I'm now subletting a small room. However, I will call this a delay, not a deal killer. Quote Link to comment
