hallucinathan
Does anyone use MH anymore? I have seen a few people say that the UV can degrade the acrylic. I have the Innovative marine Atoll which is acrylic. I use the maxspect razor led's on my 75g, but for some reason I really want to try a MH on this nano. I was thinking a 70w would be great for it, but i cant seem to even find a fixture or bulbs to do this. If anyone uses 70w MH and has some input about their output I'd appreciate it! If MH tech is dead for nanos I wont be devastated and I'll just go with the AI prime. Thanks in advance! Link to comment

jhaber
Nope. I had one over a standard 10g once and it was fine. Its a little overkill but the SPS loved it!! Personally id go LED with such a small tank. Link to comment
hallucinathan
Hmm... That'ts interesting. I'm going to do some more research. You are probably right, I'd say the led's will be the best. I just wanted to know if anyone still used them and if there was a way to get a 70w. I am still exploring all the options. thanks for your reply! Link to comment
hallucinathan
Also if anyone has a 70 watt fixture and wants to sell it let me know Link to comment

hallucinathan
Running a 250 watt single ended radium over a 40 breeder.............. I guess that means the 150 is going to melt everything. I really wish i could find someone selling the jbj K2 70w. it looks perfect... Link to comment
markalot
I think 150 would be perfect. I tried a 150 over a 29 gallon and it was pretty weak so I don't think you would melt anything. There are only a few MH bulbs that look really good so you would want to run a size that supports those bulbs anyway. Link to comment
StinkyBunny
Look around on Craigslist for the old 70 watt Viper fixture. I'm running one on the refugium tank for my wife's 60 cube. I had to buy extra bulbs off Aliexpress, but they're dirt cheap. Link to comment

Pinner Reef
I have a K2 Viper 150W that I'm not using if you want it. $75... Pretty sure I have 1 or 2 fresh Phoenix 14ks for it too. Link to comment
mgsullivan24
I use a 150w mh on a IM 25 lagoon which is about 12" tall. No problems with heat or too much light. I actually have two 24" t5's and two PAR38 LED bulbs on it also. If it's not for sps I would go with the 70w just to save energy by if you are doing sps you'll definitely want the 150w. I was using the 70w viper hqi with ushio 20k on my 5g, it looked great but par was lacking for sps. Link to comment

Also is it the one with the fan? and does it take double ended bulbs? sorry for all the questions! No, no fan. The ballast is included. It uses double ended bulbs. Here is the model I have without the ballast pictured (not my actual light) My fixture has some slight "fogging" of the glass but that doesn't impede performance any noticeable amount. If you're interested I can pull it out and take pictures tomorrow afternoon. Shoot me a pm Link to comment

sprite
No chiller...the bulb is about 20" of the water line atm. I may have to lower it a ltitle more soon, but even at 16" the fan would kick on at 79° and off at 78.5.in running it in a lumenbright reflector that allows me to hang it high and still get par to the corals without much heat in the water.
