Cove
Hey NR! In the process of starting a new system. 18x18x16 21g cube. Really interested in the following mixing the following Dottybacks: Orchid, Neon, and Springeri along w/ a Gold Nugget Maroon Clown. Im well aware that these fish are the definition of terror and I do understand that there must be plenty of hiding space for the fish.Is there anything else to consider while mixing dottybacks & has anyone successfully mixed these awesome fish? -Cove Link to comment
charnelhouse
You should get a piranha too just to see how it goes. On the serious side, those 4 fish in a 21g cube aren't going to work. You might get away with that in a 60-75g, maybe, but not a 21. Especially when the maroon starts to mature. The dottybacks would probably be ok together if you made sure to get all captive bred. They tend to be less territorial. My sankeyi/fridmani hybrid (ORA Electric Indigo) gets along well enough with 2 cinnamon clowns in a Fusion 40, but he does think the whole damn tank is his and they are just semi-welcome guests. SunWyrm
IMO your best bet is to get them all tiny. Get all the same size babies at all the same time, quarantine them all together, and add them all together. My only experience was with my neon dottyback. Loved him to bits, but he was an angry little dude. Link to comment
Fiver
You're better off trying for a harem of one kind of dottyback. Good luck. Link to comment
Cove
Thank you all for the replies. I understand that this was a crazy idea but they just look so awesome. I figured instead of bullying more passive fish, I thought by adding them they would stand their own ground. Instead I thought of a territorial mess. Link to comment
