Something munching on Duncan.

So about a month ago I woke up and noticed what seemed like a chunk missing out of the base of my Duncan. I thought maybe it was a bit of recession as I had recently moved it. That quickly started to heal over almost immediately. About a week ago I noticed another chunk identical to the last one, but now on the front. I thought this was weird but then it started to heal over as well. This morning I wake up to yet another chunk (that is smaller) taken out near one of the heads. I have included a picture below. I suspect something is munching on it after lights out. Anyone have any ideas? There is a small gorilla crab I have been trying to catch, but this doesn't seem like that kind of behavior. I also have a keyhole limpet that came in as a hitchhiker, but I have never seen on or near corals.

I went to check my tank one evening after lights out and caught my red mithrax crab dragging my duncan frag into a cave. I only had the duncan for a couple weeks so it was still on the plug and not glued down. Without thinking, I threw my hand in the tank and snatched the crab and frag out, threw the crab in the fuge and replaced the duncan. If you have any crabs, they could be a culprit. I didn't actually see the crab eating or picking at the Duncan, but I highly doubt he was taking it into the cave to use as a hat rack.

Could be a crab or a fish. What is the stock list? The reason I say it's a fish is because the chunk is taken from out of the the top frag and not the base where the crabs would start.

I'll have to keep a closer eye out at night. I have been checking with a red flashlight and haven't seen anything yet. I have several red porcelain crabs that can in as hitchhikers on my rock. Of course the damn gorilla crab I am trying to catch as well. He only fish in the tank is a pair of Picassos.

I had 3 peppermint shrimp destroy 3 brains.

Woke up one day to my acan torn. I thought maybe too much flow or a hitchiker. Next day same thing to my favia. Saw 2 shrimp "cleaning" the area. Then I saw the same with my dragon soul....they weren't cleaning them. They were eating them.

I Just noticed, last night, an Emerald crab perched on the main

stalk of my Duncan and it looked like it was picking at it.

I, of course, shooed it away. Keeping my eyes on the Duncans now.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

I knew they weren't cleaning the corals because i watched them tear the flesh right from the skeleton. I saved the dragon soul by putting it in my cycling 10g(yes, it repaired itself and survived the cycle) the acan and other favia were unable to save.

You can tell the difference from cleaning to eating. If its tearing or taking chunks out- its eating the coral.
