Colors

I want an explosion of color in my soon to be reef tank.

Light isn't an issue. AI hydra 52.

Nitrates are 5. I added chaeto and Purigen today so hopefully they'll drop it to 0 haven't checked it yet.

Anyway. Everything I'm finding is green or pink

I want red. Purple. Yellow. Blue. Turquoise. Explosion of color that catch the eye.

But not zoas I hate those. Lol I don't like mushrooms without tentacles. or plates either. I like wavy stuff. Or stick like branching. (No kenyas please i had them before)

I love red fan coral and gorgonian. but live aquaria lists it as expert only and it needs to be spot fed.

Anyone know of colorful photosynth easy coral?

Red acans are pretty common and easy to keep. But you don't like zoas, so you might not like acans. Worth a look, at least.

I've seen quite a few purple stylophora colonies around, I don't know if you're interested in SPS but again, worth a look. Plenty of purple hammers, frogspawns and torches out there though, and those are easy to keep.

Yellow is harder...maybe a yellow (gold) torch? Plenty of movement, but they're not cheap.

Not sure about blue...I've only come across blue zoas, haven't really seen much else that is blue. Probably some blue acans around.

All of the above coral should be fine with just lighting, but many LPS do enjoy being fed. I can never get my euphyllia to eat, but my acans love to eat and my duncan (also worth considering, some interesting green/blue hues) as well.

Which was the harder ones to keep LPS or SPS? I always confuse them.

I'm getting a 3 headed frog today for $15. Fish been in since Saturday. Everything is 0 and I dropped my trates from 5 to 0 with cheato and Purigen. Yayyyy. Everything seems to be going quick for me because of that 3 year old rock. Except my cerinth they hate my tank theirs no algae for them go eat so they don't move. They ain't dead tho. Crabs and nar snails wouldn't swarmed them. I don't want them to starve so I'll give them to the guy who's selling me coral. Gonna add the frog and Monitor everyday for a week before adding any other coral.

SPS are typically harder to keep, but there are a few species that are supposed to be easier. I haven't bothered with SPS in a while though, I'm really happy with LPS. I believe stylophora falls into the "easier" category.

As far as 0 nitrates, and this is just my personal opinion here, you may want to have at least a few ppm in your tank. Especially with LPS. Right now my nitrates are around 10-20ppm and my LPS are loving it. Great color, very happy looking and fully inflated. It is a balancing act though, because I do have more algae growing than I would otherwise have.

Again, just my opinion, but I'm in favor of having some nitrates in the system.

One time I saw a blue hammer coral, it was incredible! I've also seen yellow. You could get a red lobophyllia, I have one and it's become favorite. Or a trachyphyllia brain (can you tell I love brains :P ) yellow Fiji leathers are gorgeous. There's some nice SPS too, but I haven't had luck keeping them alive (high nitrates I think). Blue is a tough color. I've looked all over for blue, and the best I've found thus far was that hammer (but they sold out so quick!). The only other blue I have is blue kiss Zoas, but I know you don't want those. I'll see what else I can think of :)

There is a Favia of every color you could want as long as you're willing to pay for them. Also, Chalices come in every color imaginable. Scolys and wellsis; they're pricey as hell but, again, any color you might need or want.

That's the thing though, all the pretty stuff is expensive. :(

I added a 6 headed frogspawn. A bigggg colony of metallic pipe organ. And a half dollar sized GSP isolated on its own island not touching glass or anything.

Feeling a bit crowded i think I'm done. I have green. Turquoise and the green frog with purple tips.

I may zip tie dragons breath to the power heads for red plus to hide them. They'll wave in the flow like a flag.

I found s plastic red fan coral at petco it's silicone and poly resin but I'm worried about the red dye.
