pal
Hello ,My plan was to remover some live rock in my nuvo 30l to open up the scape . I had planned on adding marinepure blocks to the return chamber, then read rumors about leeching aluminum, Is this true? Link to comment
spinycheek
I don't see how, aluminum doesn't dissolve in water until the pH drops to 4 or less. Link to comment
blkhwkz
I've seen some info on forums about it leeching aluminum and there is no clear answer as to whether or not that is actually a problem. Seen some Triton water tests that were with marinepure and then after removing it and aluminum numbers dropped after removal. There are plenty of people who use them with no issues, so not sure if it's really something to worry about or not. Link to comment
Balix
got the marinepure spheres and no issues. Link to comment
RollaJase
I did a lot of research into this also over the last few months. Found a great thread on another forum that was worth the read. At the end of the day I opted to try the MarinePure balls and ordered a pack of 22 of them. I thoroughly rinsed them in RODI last night and added them to my sump. From the research I did it did seem that the MarinePure product would cause Triton tests to come back with high levels of aluminium and a few other metals in the tests. The argument was if whether the Triton test was finding aluminium which was dissolved in the water or was merely present in particle form from the media. The thread I read started way back in late 2014 and people were posting their test results as evidence. Higher levels of aluminium will only really drastically effect leather corals. You shouldn't notice a big difference in other corals. Link to comment
Tmr8188
I use marine pure and my leathers are open constantly. They only close up when my nitrates are very low. Link to comment
