Fence's Nuvo Fusion 20

So I used to be more active, then things kind of happened and now I'm trying to be more active once again. I figured a good way to start this would be to write up something on my small bedroom tank. I feel it has great promise but still has some rough patches that need ironed out.

I've had this tank up and running for 5 months now. My fiancee won a pair of Wyoming Whites at a raffle from a LFS so I had set them up in a previous AIO tank that was similar to a biocube. I wanted something with more class and something better looking, so I bought the Nuvo Fusion 20 in April 2016. Transferred everything over directly from the old tank so there was no cycling/break in period. It's been up and running for 5 months now. Haven't lost any fish, the coral is a mix of montipora's and soft coral.

As I mentioned, there are some rough patches, I still have cyano on the sand bed most days. No other real algae issues just cyano. An I'm not happy with my lighting. I'm not sure why I don't like them, I guess things just don't pop like they do with my kessils on my main display tank.

Here are some questions I have:

  1. If you used to run AI lights, and replaced them. What did you replace them with?
  2. Does anyone run any other equipment made my IM? I don't see anyone who uses the reactors or biopellets. I'm sure it's a bit overkill on a 20g.

im using a mini max reactor with biopellets, and a phosban reactor with a mix of GFO and Carbon. All my numbers are down, but I am in the tail end of my cycle, so I wont know the benefits/drawbacks long term for awhile.

My buddy used a AI Prime over his 34 cube for awhile. Awesome little light for his softies/ lps. He upgraded to two kessils 350s and says he hasnt seen much different in the growths of his softies, but his SPS are all growing a bit better. IDK if it is due to different intensity or what.

Following along good luck! :D

Nice! I am in the process of upgrading to a Nuvo Fusion 20 as well from a Spec V. I plan to just move over everything and add a few new pieces of live rock from established tank so i dont have to cycle.

I have been running on Prime on the Spec with decent growth on my SPS. The only issues I had were intensity given the small size of the Spec V and some shadowing. I figured out a sweet spot my corals seem to like it now. The tank has been up and running for about 9 mos. I plan to run two Primes on the Fusion 20. I figured tilting them at angles should be fix any shadowing. The connectivity of the Primes is also pretty nice. Good luck!

So I did a thing. The devils hand leather was growing up out of the water so I cut it out, and I rescued a birdsnest from my main SPS tank and put it in here.

Still having some bubble algae and cyano issues but nothing that really detracts from the rocks and corals yet. I've pretty much given up on using the filter socks as they are annoying to clean. Any suggestions?

I run Chemipure elite and purigen in an inTank media basket in my Spec V and have no phosphates or algae issue. I plan to run the same in my Fusion. Have u tried emerald crab on the bubble algae?
