Lady is tearing down. She's giving me a package.

Frog spawn with 2 heads.

2x2 frag of Xenia.

Quarter sized GSP frag.

Water melon zoas with 8-10 polyps

Couple kenyas

For $30.

Google terrified me with pests and hitch hikers and bad algae.

I know theirs Coral dip meds out there.

What does everyone recommend?

I don't know if this lady has pests i didn't see her tank yet

(Saw some green hair algae on her rocks)

I only have soft coral and LPS, so I dip everything new in an iodine dip, and then I dip it in Coral Revive. Then I give the new piece a good rinse in clean water and in the tank it goes!

Okay another question. I read horror stories about people adding dry base rock to established tanks. I want to make an island for the GSP and an island for the Xenia. What is safe to use as a base. Ceramic? Marble?

That's a good question...I would assume ceramic would be fine, marble is probably OK. Not really sure on those though. Where are you getting your base rock from?

(All I know is I got my dry base rock from the fish store and it's worked out fine, but I have no clue what it's made of.)

I don't have rock. I don't know where to get it. I'm just looking for something tennis ball sized to isolate the gsp on an island and the Xenia on another island. On my main rock I'm gonna grow a huge frogspawn. Or Duncan As the center piece. And a torch in the sand on the other side. And some red dragons breath for red color. I hate zoas and they hate me lol. Unless i get them their own small island too.

I'm not sure where you'd get just a small piece, but this rock gets very high marks:

With the craigslist coral, its hard ot know what you might be getting. If the lady allows you to visit to see the state of the tank, I would go and observe. TBH it will be hard to resist buying once you visit. But look for obvious signs of neglect or problems like dead skeleton, flatworms, GHA or bryopsis algae, browning in coral, limp leathers, no polyp extension.

I'm over it I read too many horror stories about adding rock after cycles. Lol thanks tho.

If you don't have rock what are you doing for filtration?

Oh I have LR. One big 7lb rock. I wanted to place islands far from it to isolate different coral species. And place the bigger flashy ones on the big rock.

Ya I have her address. I think I'm gonna ask her to dip the coral before bagging it. In a white bowl with whichever dip she has. See if any bugs come out. And I read to examine the base of the coral for bite marks. And eggs. Etc.
