zacharin0
So I currently have a single juvenile clownfish in my aquarium and I was wondering if it was safe to add another juvenile clown. I just don't want the two clowns to fight. I only added one to start off, because I didn't want my bioload to be too big for a newer tank. Link to comment
seabass
When adding a second clownfish, always try to add a notably smaller juvenile. Link to comment

Same thing, just add a smaller juvenile and it should work out. If the original was male, it will become a female. Link to comment

Thanks Seabass :-) Not in the situation but since the topic was brought up thought I would inquire :-) Link to comment
Clown79
Just make sure the clown is smaller and all should be well. A little aggression may happen but as soon as you see the smaller one dance and twitch- things will calm down. Its the clowns way of saying to the larger one "your the boss" Link to comment

I recently got a new pair and the littler one has been doing the dance/twitch! Amazing, love the little cuties! Link to comment
Clown79
The first time you see it, its like the clown is having a seizure! Its a good sign when you see the dance. Link to comment
cruiZe
I have heard the same! Out of curiosity if a person has two clownfish, one dies. Should/can a replacement be purchased? yes. It depends on how long they are alone also. I got 2 juveniles and one jumped after a week, the next week I got another juvenile (and a lid) and everything was fine. VS in my first tank the female died and the male was alone for 6 months - he became the female by default so the new one needed to be smaller (and hopefully younger) so it was still juvenile or male so- Zach- how long has you one clown been alone?? if you get another juvenile you're good either way really, and they will always "fight" my female still beats down the male after 4 years every once in a while if he tries to eat more than 4 pellets. - but that's totally different than "fight to the death" of having 2 females Link to comment
