CPR Aquafuge Pump MOD

so, we have an Aquafuge (small) for a lagoon 25..

I wanted a low flow area for POD propagation, but I didn't want the pump in the DT.. oh yea, side mount is the only option for this..

from Marine depot I ordered mj400 106gph flow (cobalt) to go with it

I had to pick up 2ea 1/2 x 5/8 hose fittings and some thin wall sprinkler tubing (fit over the 5/8 part) from homodepot to get it to fit right.. couple that to 1/2 ID clear tubing..

this can't be hardlined, as the pump is off by 1/4 inch off the wall.. also beware, the damn inflow is irregular size so guys like me can't easily make their equipment better.. bitches!

but, I like the box so far..

flow set as low as it can go

now.. i have a 2 lb tray of Miracle Mud in the bottom (fits well), with some Fluvall ceramic rings and tons of macro

PODs from algaebarn will be here tomorrow ..

so, i think for this, the flow is prefect.. CPR gives you this cheezy little ball valve to regulate flow on the outside, but with this pump wide open it's plenty.. also, the pump literally takes 5 minutes to work the air out of the line and prime

after the initial prime, you can shut an restart right away

off this MOD, i'm happy...

if i were to do it again i would definitely take all of the intake crap off and throw it out and start over, as I think a 4 year old could do better.. (if I had time)

sound negative? yep... make no mistake though, I am overall happy with the purchase $202 with free shipping from MD, and another 15 from the other depot.. now I hope it does what I want it to.

right now I have the intake sitting in the back.. but will have to find an intake screen to fit this thing.. another slight MOD is necessary

right now i kind of have it on the wrong side of the tank... but will get it moved over out of the way next week.. will post more pics tomorrow

many people have asked if the water siphons out when the pump shuts off... answer is yes and no..

the water will siphon (out only) of the fuge until both levels of water are equal.

I could see how this could easily flood a "smaller" "full" tank
