CrazyEyes
I must say it lasted longer than I thought it would. Just got the frame for the stand built, going to skin it this weekend and get to finishing it. Just going to run a hob filter for now as I ease back into the hobby. The stand will be built though for a sump incase I decide to do that. Will post more pics this weekend. Also need to finish painting the room lol. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Got some work done on the stand. Well built a whole new frame because the 1x4s I originally used were pretty warped so I opted for select pine and 3/4" ply. I'm digging the way it's coming along. Made a neat little electrical compartment, and I'm not ruling out the use of a sump in the near future, it'll be a little sump but ohwell. More to come soon. Link to comment
Dramad1
Looking good, can't wait to see what you do this time around Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I just need to finish the bastard and keep it for awhile. I'm still not sure if I should drill it for a sump right from the start or wait until income tax year when I can upgrade to something with the same dimensions but rimless. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Picked up a 4x24w light for crazy cheap. Might throw an ATI ballast and bulbs in it and call it a day. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Well i guess I'm just going to end up drilling the tank after all. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Picked up a Reef keeper elite v2 for $150. Pretty stoked about that. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Got the tank drilled and overflow mounted. Also made a top of black egg crate and mounted the RKE. Link to comment
SquishyFishy
This looks interesting and way nifty, got an update??? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Not as of yet. Really only get to work on it on the weeks. Need to get the trim on the stand done then paint. Also need to build the sump so I can plumb the tank. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Is that the 15 breeder (24"x12"x12") ? Regardless its going to be a solid ass build, following along !!! Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Yeah its a 24x12x12. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Nice,i love what you did with the hide away section for the Reef Keeper. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Thanks. It'll probably remain open. It should look nice when the rest of the trim is there. Link to comment
pewpewkittah
I really like the build with the unique tank size. I wish I had built a separate electrical compartment in my stand. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Thanks. I did something similar with my previous stand but I really like the way this one come out more. Here is the previous stand. Link to comment
lilmatty5dimes
Looks good so far. Following along Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Trying to figure out what I want to use for intank flow. I have a feeling an mp10 will be the best option. I've also thought about a gyre but I feel it'd just blow water out of the tank. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Thought about 1-2 RW-4's or a RW-8 ? Be about half the price of both options. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Yeah. Might go with a pair of rw-4s. I just worry about how much room they might take up in this small tank. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Nevermind. They look pretty small. And two at even 10% should provide plenty of flow for zoas and lps. Link to comment
Reefkid88
They are small,i dont think theyll take up much room at all homestly. I have one in my 7 gallon and it doesnt take up all that much room. The SW-2's are supposedly a lot smaller, about the size of a golf ball i read online. I habe a 500mA power supply and can run it full speed and the dial turned half way and its enough flow. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Those would even be plenty of flow. Just think the narrowness of them might give too narrow of a flow though. Link to comment
Reefkid88
I think they'll be fine. Unless its packed with sps, which you said lps and zoo's. Maybe put 2 on one side ? Or put one on the left side panel on the back and the right side panel on the front half. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Doing a few things to the stand today. Finishing closing off the electrical area and add the trim pieces. It's really starting to coming together nicely and should look great when it's painted. Link to comment
