ArtsyAxolotl
So bit of a noob question, but what causes a torch to have short tentacles? I see all these pictures of torches with long, gorgeous tentacles but mine is all stubby. It still looks awesome but I'm just wondering why mine is so short. I'm sure its a torch. Is it just a variety with short tentacles? Or is a placement thing? Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Usually it is placement. In my experience they like indirect low-med flow and medium lighting. Link to comment
ArtsyAxolotl
Interesting! Mine's sorta in the middle of my tank, with the flow and lighting you mentioned. Its a fairly new coral so I'm going to just let it be and see if it extends any. If not, maybe it's just a short variety? Thanks for the info! Link to comment

Thanks for the info! ive seen short variety and long variety, you may just have a short variety because yours looks very fluffy haha Link to comment
ArtsyAxolotl
Yea, the coral definitely seems fine! I love that description...fluffy! I guess I was just hoping it'd be a long tentacle variety haha. Link to comment
smeagol108
It may still be acclimating or it may be a grape cristata. It's a euphyillia which is often mislabeled as they are not as common. I love my cristata and it looks just like urs and I have had it for over a year. Link to comment
Cakes_the kid
Mine does the exact same thing... tried all over my tank. Seems and looks healthy tho I just don't understand it either Link to comment
