Tank stand for a 25 gallon-NEW IDEA

Hey all so found out my LFS has a 18 in cube for under a 100 buckaroos so it's an obvious purchase in my book.

But I don't want to spend $200 for a stand.

I have two metal tables, one of which currently holds my 5 gallon reef on top and the 5 gallon millipede and spotted cockroach terrarium. Dimensions are 19.5 by 17.25 inches. Idk how tall it is. about mid thigh on me and I'm short.

If I was two put the two together and put something on top to level them out... do you think they would be sufficient to carry the weight of the 25 gallon? Or if one would be sufficient if I added a larger top like a giant old cutting board?

If not then what do you recommend furniture wise? I also have an old missionary wooden end table which is shorter but more like 20 or 22 in cube top. (Which the guy won't let me sacrifice lol)

I'd just add an oversized top to it. You can get a 2' x 4' of 3/4" wood at hd or lowes for like 20-30 bucks depending on species, then just cut two equal pieces. 1.5" will be plenty strong enough. To give you an idea, I made a computer desk and did the same thing for the top (the desk was 60"x24") and I literally jumped up and down on to prove how strong it was, and I'm 220lbs lol

I got a used aquarium stand and decided to reinforce it.

We got some 2x4's and 2x2's to add to the existing stand. There are tons of diy online to help you.

Just ensure that the tank is level and the stand can hold the weight.

THIS is the newest idea. After thinking about it long and hard I don't know if I trust the two tables. The one I have is a bit wobbly. And the other one my family is bringing may also be wobbly.

This is roughly 20 by 20 and real wood.

Do you guys think this is the safer option? Only thing is it is very short.

Going to go to goodwill and see if they have anything and also home depot to look at work benches.

The last one I really like. Would be really nice restained another color.

That's of course the craigslist one lol

Also I probably wouldn't restain in just because I have no place to do so. I could do it on the entrance steps... but somebody could take it.. and I wouldn't push it past my crummy neighbors. lol

Let me grab a pic of both of the tables.

As you can see the tank JUST BARELY has to go on the second table... So I was thinking a sheet of 3/4" plywood or maybe I will splurge for a hardwood. I think they should be stable enough. Gotta see how wobbly they are as we go. If I'm adding water and rock and see wobble I can abort mission and go with one of the above options.

I was thinking I would lash the tables together too, just for added stability.

I also found of the reason the table is wobbling is due to the corner carpet not laying right... SO tank will be moving from there to a better carpeted area. Hopefully that will also help.
