glenng78
I have a biocube 29, with 30lbs of live sand, and 25 lbs of dry rock. I am thinking about seeding it with around 5 lbs of live rock from my local fish store. I am looking for some pointers on what to look for, and what not to look for. I am still nervous about getting hitchhikers. Also, I am on Long Island, anyone have any recommendations as to the best quality LFS in my area? Link to comment

Be very careful of LFS live rock, many times it's phosphate laden rock from someone elses tank, or mixed in with rock from an old tank. Good looking live rock contains no visible caulerpa algae and is full of colors, orange, red, and all kinds of stuff you have no idea what it is. Place it in the sump before putting it in the main tank to avoid surprises like mantis shrimp. Link to comment
