Eiheim feeder with mesh lid?

I have an Eiheim everyday feeder I use while on vacations or when working long shifts at work. I have a 40 breeder rimmed tank. I just installed one of those DIY mesh lids after a jumper. After installing it, the width of the rimmed tank and the metal frame to the lid make it too thick for my feeder to mount to the tank. Does anyone have any suggestions how to attach the feeder now?

 

I was thinking of going to home depot for a small piece of scrap wood that I can glue or tape to the rim that will sick up an inch or so in the back and then mount the feeder to it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I used velcro on mine, the heavy duty stuff.
