Open-Top Tidal Pool Touch Tank?

I recently visited the Niagara Falls Aquarium, and I stumbled upon this amazing "touch tank" however the signs said not to touch it haha. It is lit with three Kessel lamps, and the entire setup leaves me with many questions.

 

 

 

 

-Does the level of water rise and fall like a real tidal pool?

 

 

-How do they regulate salinity level with all this evaporation?

 

 

-There is no circulation pump, how does this work?
