Struggling with blinkup...considering storm controller

Hello,

I've recently received my Tide/bluefish controller and am trying to link it up to my android tablet. The problem I'm having is during blinkup, maybe five seconds into it the imp card stops blinking orange and starts blinking *green *green *orange *green. And after it's done ''configuring'' the blinking completely stops and the led stays off. I couldn't find a match in the troubleshooting section so does anybody know what this color combination means? I'm getting desperate and am considering the storm controller but don't know about connecting it to the drivers. The drivers are inside the black box with the bluefish right? I do have soldering skills though so if anyone can tell me why I'm getting the error colors or how to wire up the coralux storm controller I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

How bright do you have the tablet display? I know that brightness is a common issue, Also yo can try PMing the bluefish account here. They are pretty good at responding.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got the brightness turned up 100% and power save mode turned off. It's a very inexpensive tablet and I have noticed that at the beginning of blinkup that something comes on the screen saying that the resolution is low and it gives the option to go through with it (blinkup) anyways. So I do. This might be the problem.

I'm in the market for a new phone and I've got my eye on the

POSH Micro X S240 Unlocked Smartp. This is compatible with the bluefish? It uses android kit kat. I don't see why it wouldn't work but thought I'd ask just in case.

Do you happen to know anything about wiring up a coralux? I think I'd rather have that for less risk of running into problems as long as I'm not missing out on anything truly important that the bluefish has.

I'm off to work for the evening so won't be able to post until much later tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks again for positing.

Once the blinking stops, that means that it is connected.

Resolution doesn't really matter for the blinkup process, it just needs to be able to flash the screen fast enough.

If it was connected wouldn't the light fixture come on? And when I unplug the controller and plug it back in it starts blinking orange again. I thought this meant that blinkup was unsuccessful.

off to work, I'll see you guys tomorrow.

I just went to ''settings'' on the tablet and clicked on the WiFi icon, scrolled down and saw ''2.4 GHz frequency'' so l assume the router is also 2.4 GHz but don't know for sure. The router doesn't have the GHz written anywhere on it. I believe I'm connecting to my router because I'm using the router's password to connect to WiFi. I don't know what a phone hot spot is.

Is there a setting that would allow me to make the screen flash quicker?

Just want to make sure you are connecting correctly.

  • Log in with your username and pasword
  • Go to WIFI Setup
  • Select your WIFI network and put the routers password in the password field ( triple check you are putting in the correct password as this is the number one issue I have found )
  • Click BlinkUp and allow to sync to card

If it connects correctly the Bluefish APP will bring up the screen for a quick setup. Select your model and change times as needed.

Let me know if I can help!

I appreciate it Dave.

I just re-entered/double checked the wifi password so that's ok.

Right before blinkup starts flashing, it says ''low frame rate'' and gives the option to proceed anyways... so I do. And then during blinkup the orange flashing changes to green green green orange and then as soon as it's done configuring, the card's led completely turns off and the screen says error: timeout.

Any ideas?

I too am having difficulties connecting my controller to my app/phone. I get thru the BlinkUp process and then get a message that says "no response from server/device"...I have checked all of my network/router settings and still have this issue.

Any suggestions, as I am becoming frustrated?

I am sending a ticket in with Bluefish about this. In all the units I have sold, I have never heard or seen low frame rate.

Does the card flash green? If so when that error comes up after blink up and it flashes green close the APP completely and then restart and log in. See if the controller is connected then.

Have you heard back from Bluefish yet?

The light stays solid red and I get an error message saying it cannot find the server.

I just replied to an email chain with you and Spencer. When you plug the unit in, does the card go solid red right away?

I did. Can you help us out with something? Is this a cheaper Android tablet? It may not have enough resources to connect due to the tablet. Can you try this?

  • Restart the tablet
  • Only open the Bluefish APP ( before opening anything else )
  • Make sure power saving if OFF

If that does not work is there any chance you can use a friends iOS or newer Android phone? Once it is connected it will stay connected to that network unless you change the password. Then you can use your current device.

As well please post what device you are using. It will help us big time.

Yes, the tablet is definitely on the inexpensive side. It's an RCA Voyager II (RCT6773W22)

I can borrow an iPhone C5. I'll give it a try and report back.

I won't lie, I have never seen that tablet! I bet if you can borrow a friends phone it will sync right up. Once synced you can use your RCA.

You can also find used iPad Minis for $40-75 this day and age.

Big thanks to Spencer and Dave as they helped guide me thru the process of getting things ironed out and the light working. The issue appeared to be something regarding the IMP memory card, which Dave replaced rather quickly. All is well, thank you, guys!
