switching from leds to t5 questions

Hello I am thinking about switching from maxspect razor to ati dimmable 4x39 w dimmable . I have a fusion 30L. I have never run t5s and have a few quesitons,

From what I understand the bulbs need 50 hours burn in time. would there be any problem ordering a few sets of bulbs and pre burning them before hanging my new fixture?

I currently have my razor levels maxing at 50 a channel and 60 b channel. What would be a good starting point on ati fixture? I plan on running 2 coral plus 2 blue plus . thanks,

No problem burning them in prior to hanging your fixture, best idea anyway. I would run them 6 hours with a 1/2 hour ramp from the beginning. Go up from there depending on how your corals react. Thats what I did anyway and had no problems. Actually my corals growth took off almost right away.

I've considered switching over the t5's, I was under the impression you shouldn't ramp them at all during the burn in period.

I know ramping in general reduces the life of the bulbs...does ramping during the burn in provide some benefit?

Maybe I wasn't clear, the OP asked if he could burn them in before hanging the fixture over his tank. I assumed he would run them at 100% for at least 50 hours with no ramping.

The 6 hours at 100% with 1/2 hour ramp up/down I referenced was the starting point has asked about after he hung the fixture to acclimate his corals to his new ATI. Increase the 100% time as the corals need.

Why not run t5s and the razor? What are you looking for the t5s to do that the razor isn't?

I Like my razor , I am looking to get better overall coverage instead of hot spots with the razor,

If you're looking for more even coverage just add 2 or 4 t5 supplements to the razor. Easy mod on razors, lots of people have done it. I added 2 t5's to my ReefBreeders fixture, worked out nicely but not as clean as you can do with the razor.
