ArtsyAxolotl
This sort've hairy, wispy junk has started to grow on my live rock. Along with a TON of sand settling on EVERYTHING. I have no idea what it is, I was thinking either hair algae or cyanobacteria, but I can't quite tell color yet. It seems to trap bubbles every now and then, and none of my snails seem interested in it. I took a video of the stuff because it's too hard to see in pictures. My camera isn't that great. Let me know if the video link doesn't work. I picked up an astrea snail today for some red cyanobacteria growing on my sandbed due to a contaminated rock rubble piece, so maybe he'll eat the junk on my main rocks too? But in the meantime, I'd love to find out what this stuff is and if it's going to become a problem. Side question, is there a way to reduce how much dust is in the water? I thought I did a pretty good job of rinsing out my sand a few months ago, but apparently I didn't since I'm still finding a thin film of sand on literally everything, and no amount of blowing it off with a turkey baster is making it go away. ArtsyAxolotl
Grabbed another, more recent video for you guys. Looks a bit like hair algae although I'm new to the hobby so I'm not quite sure. The pink color comes from my african violets' grow light one table over. Any ideas? Link to comment
