Better Test Kit?

I'm just not a fan of the API kits... Half the time I can't tell the difference in color...

 

Anybody recommend a better one? Or a less obnoxious one at least? Lol

Not sure what you're testing for, but I have the Salifert po4, alk and calcium and they seem pretty good. The instructions are nice and detailed.

I use a mix, currently API, Nutrafin and Salifert with a Red Sea kit on the way.

 

Depends what I am testing for, Ammonia its easier for me to read the Nutrafin colors vs API. Salifert for Phosphate (will eventually go digital but the price point is not to my liking) but I rarely test Phosphate, but the colors on the lower end I cannot tell apart, but I can at least know its not high, so works well enough for me. But the light blue colors are not easy to tell apart,

 

I use API for calcium as it was available and can't always order online, but the accuracy seems decent and is only 13ppm off from what the batch report for the salt says.

 

pH I use Nutrafin.

 

alk, I am waiting for Red Sea kit, but use Nutrafin at the moment, and works to my satisfaction and no reason to believe its not accurate.

The Salifert use syringes, so if you want the most precise I would use them, because everything is controlled.

You can do the same with any test kit to measure the water, just have to make a trip to the pharmacy and ask for one, sometimes they are free sometimes a dollar or 2.

 

And I would always use a syringe to measure the water as those lines on the various brands vials can be off and sometimes by 1-2ml's.
