dandelion Posted July 31, 2016 Share Posted July 31, 2016 Today I noticed a white crab clinging onto my turbo which is about 10 times its size. The turbo seems to be business as usual, though every now and then it gets irritated and retracts partly into its shell. I managed to remove the crab from the turbo. Not knowing whether it's a pest, I put the crab in my QT before it went back into hiding. My tank is a little over 1 year old and this is the first time I see this little guy. It is semi-transparent and I can kind of see its internal organs... Especially its dark stomach. Any idea what it is? Is it a pest? Link to comment

Look at him begging to let him live He is kinda cute in an ugly way. I see some hair on his legs but those pinchers don't look to scary. I'm not sure what he could grow into though! Porcelains have 3 legs (not including pinchers) but it looks like he has 4 in the picture, most would probably vote bad based on that. You got a fuge you can put him in? Given to size it's probably not doing much harm but I certainly see it with its pincers on my turbo. So it's probably a carnivore. I'll leave it in my QT until I find something more interesting to go in there. I do have a five.... But it really is just an AC 70 so it really isn't a lot of room there. SideCar_Falcon619 Posted August 1, 2016 Share Posted August 1, 2016 that is the cutest damn crab I have ever seen... lol Pest or not you gotta keep him lol My Emerald Crab came pregnant when I bought her I guess? so I did research and it says its almost impossible to raise crabs in a tank with all the filters and what not? So if this is a baby crab thats managed in your tank thats pretty cool! Link to comment

It actually looks exactly like a pea crab, but those are symbionts with various temperate clams (like the clams you get at the store to eat). Wondering if there is a tropical version of the pea crab...... Link to comment
