reefercorey
So if I am going to a coral event that spans 2 days how do I keep corals that I buy on the first day alive until they are brought home? I want to go to reefapalooza both days in 2017 but it's about a 4 hour drive so id have to get a hotel and im not sure how I'd manage to keep the corals bought on day 1 healthy. I went this year and many booths held the corals i bought until the end of the day but quite a few wouldn't do this. Any ideas or suggestions? Otherwise I'll probably just end up going for one day. Merthynia
I know some people take "live bait" containers that have an aerator in them along and use that in the hotel. You can find some that plug into the wall. Link to comment
smeagol108
bring a coleman cooler with water, and extra five gallon bucket with water, a heater, and a aerator or powerhead of some sort. plug it all in in the hotel. honestly, even with no heater or aerator, if temp remains above 70 everything will be perfectly fne. these things ship across the world, we don't give them enough credit. honestly this is very easy and very doable. reefercorey
Thanks for the replies! So just put all the corals in the same cooler together? And what is the 5 gallon bucket for? Sorry if these are dumb questions just want to make sure I give them the best chance of survival. Link to comment

I have done this at hotels before, I set up a "mini tank". Be sure to not use a powerhead that would heat the water up too much, I think a bubbler is probably safer. Reason is powerheads heat up the water and since it is in a cooler, it doesn't escape quickly, it can get uncomfortably warm unless you are using a low enough wattage one. Link to comment
