Help me select an overflow box!

Currently I only have a 90' overflow with no emergency drain, I should have went with an 1" overflow but chose 3/4", my wrong doing, anyway I feel that I can get maximum flow into the sump by installing an overflow box leading directly through the bulkhead, I like the new eshopps slim boxes but the bulkhead is 1/2" which would replace my return, don't really care for that idea, I could buy a box and drill it, but before I decide I was wanting input from my fellow reefers, plus the 90 really doesn't allow for much flow to the sump it's really restricted with the elbow and 1/2" going to 3/4"

is the tank fully stocked and running right now or is it dry

running right now about half stocked but my fish are in QT so I can drain the water and work in the tank then fill it back up, I went with an overflow box that I can drill and fit to the tank with the bulkhead I currently have, we will see how that works, I took off the 1/2" standpipe and now it's an 3/4" pipe allowing more water and the turnover is perfect but I want the water height higher so the overflow box will do the trick, we shall see

It's gonna sounds like a lot of work but I was gonna say, if it's an empty tank, just drill it and make a corner or center overflow so your not dealing with a HOB overflow where it can potentially get clogged and overflow your tank. The tubing is usually clear which leads to algae buildup in there.

oh, no my tanks already drilled lol I have a 90 degree overflow and 1/2" return which works just fine but I'm gonna take off the 90 and place the overflow box in the tank to raise the water level, I wished I had drilled for a corner overflow but oh well, too late now haha

What size is the tank? 3/4" should provide plenty of flow even with a 90. Could always drill another hole and run a herbie style drain setup.

Bulk reef has overflow boxes you can just silicone in the only downside is they felt bigger. On a positive you could drain the tank down, drill a extra hole or two, test leak your new bulkheads then re drain, clean and silicone the box inside the tank. That will give you more flow and a emergency drain.

They synergy is amazing but you would be drilling a lot more and completely changing your plumbing. It will cost around $300 or more if you go to hard plumbing.

Whatever you decide I would be careful drilling a tank with anything in it. I've never done it and would rather buy a new one and drill it empty.
