OesteUno
Im looking to sell my biocube but if it doesn't sell, I'll set it up. I see lots of biocubes with sumps and koralias in the main tank for extra water flow. Here is my idea... I removed the back plastic wall and will do a herbie overflow. I plan to put the sump return pump into the overflow so I get most of the pumps flow and plump the intake of the pump to the sump. I might use a PVC T and drill holes in it (will need to play with it. So my question is, will the 500gph of a Mag5 be to much if the water returns through 4 different outlets? Was thinking 2 1/2 diameter hòles and two 12-14" locline runs (each with some type of flow control)? Thanks for reading Link to comment
OesteUno
One more question, is this reef safe for an overflow? I've read #2 is safe but I'd like to ask just in case there are different types of HDPE that I missed. HDPE sheet https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000ILHWAM/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've got an extra sheet from doing my truck door panels. Link to comment
seabass
I'm not sure that I understand. You will have an overflow and sump, but plan to put the return pump in the overflow? You don't plumb the intake side of those pumps. The pump should be in the sump, to pump water into the display. At 5' of head height, a Mag 5 will put out 325gph (each 90 degree elbow will add almost 1' of head height). I hope that helps. Link to comment
