Seeking advise, adding new fish

Hello fellow Nano-reefers! It's been a while since I've posted anything but I wanted to seek out some opinions. I have an established nuvo 16 aquarium for about 3 years. There has been a lot of die off's ups and downs with this tank, mostly due to neglect on my part. Since adding a new CUC the tank is healthy as can be and most of the coral have managed to stay alive during this duration.

So far only one fish has survived for various reasons (jumping, rocks falling etc) and the only fish in the tank are: a yellow watchman goby (added about 3 months ago) and a ocellaris clownfish which has been in the tank for the entire 3 years the tank has been set up. It has been the only water column swimmer for about 8 months as my 6-line wrasse disappeared one night about that long ago.

Adding another clown in such a small tank is almost a recipe for disaster as it has clearly established territory, it currently hosts a hammer coral that has been in since the beginning also. It's to the point where it tries to attack my hands while cleaning. I have read about adding a smaller clown etc....

My question: what other fish could I add with minimal side effects of aggression? I have had before a 6-line wrasse, a lawnmower blenny and green chromis which have all passed. I would add a fire fish but they have been known to jump, i have a screen top but somehow even my YWG has managed to jump in the rear chamber with about 0.5" to clear.

Thank you in advance and I am looking forward to hearing some valued opinions!

your clown is certainly now a female, being alone for so long... so you will need a juvenile or small male if you get another Ocellaris. You have plenty of room for another clown because they don't swim very far (at least mine don't)

I had a firefish that was fine with YWG but eventually disappeared and yes they jump like crazy.

I also think you should be OK with a small Clown. Or, if you want some more color, you didn't mention a Royal Gramma. Mine held his own against a very territorial Clown.

Your clown might be ok with a smaller clown added but I'm newer here so I'm not a 100% sure.but I know that if you do add another clown it needs to be a small one,in my 10 gallon I have a ywg and clown and they get along fine.it just sucks because if you do get one you'll probably pay decent money for it.if it were me I'd say go for it!

There are many clown color variations. I have an orange female and a black male. My female had been in the tank for a year before I bought her a tiny mate. There about 3 and two years in.

I just love clowns ???

I added a second clown after a yr. I made sure it was smaller and all went well.

I do understand your concerns though because each clown is different.

She could be aggressive with any new fish.

Thank you for all the responses. I will probably end up taking a chance on getting a second clown. When i went the LFS they only had one available that was only slightly smaller than the one I have so I decided to pass. I will wait until a true juvenile is available and update with progress.
