Jslnano
Problem: I had a problem that I was searching for a solution to. I have a 10 gallon nano reef and the Tunze Osmolator 3155 auto top off which upon powering up, automatically primes for 30 seconds. Even with the controller knob inside turned down all the way, it still pumps enough ro water to lower my salinity significantly! Not only is it a pain to unplug and plug back in during water changes/ maintenance but I also worry about power outages. I don't want to have to worry about the pump automatically dumping that much ro water into my tiny tank. Solution: Manual reset inline portable GFCI https://www.amazon.com/Tower-Manufacturing-30396031-08-Inline-Connector/dp/B017850AVS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469046214&sr=8-1&keywords=manual+gfci I just ordered this and tested it today. When power is interrupted for any reason, it cuts power and will not reset until you push the button yourself. You can also push the test button to cut power and then hit the reset again to bring power back. No more unplugging and re-plugging auto top off. And no more worries of power outages for me. Hope this helps someone! Link to comment
reefist
The 3152 doesn't have the 30 second runtime upon power restoration if you didn't know that already. Link to comment
HarryPotter
With the 3155, if you use the GFCI and it keeps power off to your ATO thats a BAD thing. The float switch on the 3155 will prevent the 30 second prime from doing any harm, while keeping the ATO system active when water proceeds to evaporate. Link to comment
gus6464
You need to calibrate the secondary float on the 3155 by lowering it closer to the optical eye that way it does not run for 30 sec prime. If my line is primed already my 3155 will only run for 5 secs max when it comes back from power outage. Link to comment
Jslnano
I have tried lowering the float switch. When It's lower and the pump primes, and it cuts power, the amount of water will still lower my salinity and just ring until the water evaporates back down. For me, it's just easier the turn the ato on and off during maintenance and to cut power after an outage. My Apex Jr will let me know if I have a power outage when power is restored. It's never an issue to push the reset or have someone else do it for me if I'm away. Link to comment
