I was looking at wholesale prices recently and they have gone up quite a bit in the last few years. I think it is because FWC imposed a stricter bag limit. Link to comment

All you can find now are tiny, but you should know better than anyone if this is the case. Link to comment

We had a lot of rain and they drained the canals and Lake Okeechobee into the ocean a few weeks back, and a few weeks before that etc.. if by any chance we can get one of our federal politicians to try to fix the waterways we in FL would appreciate your support even though it doesn't directly affect you. Back in the day (1920s?) they moved the course of the water that flows through the state to create more arable and, but it has had an effect on the ocean, where the water is now dumped instead of onto wetlands, aka swamps. The ocean is now more important to us economically and it is also cool in its own right. Now they are trying to put it back where it is supposed to go, but the federal portion of the funding was cut in 2009, and while the state is ready with cash on hand, we are waiting on the feds. It is their land, so we need their approval on the project as well, which has been on hiatus. Link to comment
Astinus Posted July 18, 2016 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Back in January, thanks to El Nino, Florida had a lot of Rain! Especially over Lake O. The "Army Corp of Engineers" decided to start dumping Lake O into the Caloosahatchee River, which runs to the Gulf of Mexico, my neck of the woods. Now we are having some serious Nasty Algae blooms. Tourism is down and I believe it is also affecting the Property Values! The water here used to be clear and nice to fish, now it is so Tanic, it isn't worth it! Charter Boats are having to travel much further to get into the "Blue" colored waters. It's an environmental disaster, IMHO! I agree with John on this. There is a lot of News reports here locally about spending and with the election looming, some of the candidates are talking some about it as part of their "Platform", among other issues.
