Nehsmit
I have the new AI Prime HD for the last week but have noted increasing algae in my glass. Not sure if it's a particular LED color, intensity, or something else. I had a 14k MH before without issues. Run time is approx same as with MH but now have ramp times as well. Any thoughts? Here are my color settings and percents. Thank you in advance. Link to comment
John L
Hi, I had the same problem with my prime , keep your green leds low, i was told it helps promote algae growth, but doesn't do a great deal for corals themselves. Add some more cuc to help battle the algae. Good luck! Link to comment

dacdaddy
agree with the spectrum colors, but algae needs 3 things to grow--Light, Nitrate, Phosphate. You need to check your nitrate and phosphate and figure out how you are going to reduce/eliminate. Link to comment
CronicReefer
LED lighting systems usually have much more of the deep red spectrum that MH or T5. Deep red is the primary light source for algae growth which is why I think so many people say they experience algae blooms after switch to LEDs. Turn of all red light source and see how that helps, from what I've been told UV-A/blue lighting is the primary light source for corals. Link to comment
Clown79
I didn't have this experience with my new prime but I am seeing this issue with my new Aquamaxx. My 10g has been having an increase in algae since changing the light. I contribute this to the red leds that weren't in the previous light. Lower the percentage of red and green. That should help reduce it. Link to comment
Nehsmit
Could the problem be my total light running times have increased? When I had my MH it ran from 1:30p to 10p. Now the full brightness is only 11:30a-8p BUT the ramp up and down times are also there. I have since eliminated the RED LED completely and minimized GREEENS since it was suggested earlier this week. Below are pics of my running times and percents at full power from 11:30a-8p. Thanks again. Link to comment
