I recently picked up some live rock and there looks to be some coral (purple, green in the middle), can anyone help identify if it is coral and what kind? I found this other creature wondering around, it looks like some kind of snail.

I'm assuming this is rock from Florida or caribean. Coral is a "moon coral" a member of favidae family. Snail is actually a limpet.

Thank you. The rock did come from Florida.

A cute limpet! Look out for what it's eating, though.

Thank you Maria. What should I be looking out for? I don't have much in my tank as of yet.

Thank you both for your quick responses and expertise.

Some limpets are carnivorous and will eat coral. Yours looks like the good algae eating type however but a better pic from the stop and side could further clear that. They are good clean up crew members.
