Are you looking to sell as a package or will you be open to parting out? If parting out, you can offer the livestock as a whole package. Then part out the equipment once the livestock sells. I think you'll get more $$ doing it this way. In regards to the equipment, browsing the hardware classifieds are a good way to come up with pricing.

i would be looking at selling it as a package, im not to worried about how much i get i just want it to be a fair price for both parties.

but if i did go on thew path of parting it out, do people buy live rock? do people buy live rock with Xenia all over it?

I completely agree with stella, you'll not only get more money by parting it out, but it'll likely sell quicker. I've not seen many whole stocked tanks selling for much, or very quickly. You might even see if an LFS would give you anything for all your livestock, then you could go about cleaning up and parting out your equipment.

and yes people will buy live rock, and they'll buy live rock covered in xenia.. that said, xenia is pretty easy to remove by ripping it off the rock. I find a pair of good quality tweezers really help.

I sold my 55g about 8yrs ago.

I ended up selling everything seperate because there was more interest in the items that way rather than someone interested in the full set up.

I sold all the equipment after I sold the livestock and liverock. I had a store buy my livestock, liverock, tank, and stand.

Everything else was sold to individuals.

Every market is different so what sells at what price in one market might not even sell for a dollar in another. Depends how popular marine tanks are.

In my area as a full set up, if you lucked out and found someone wanting a full set up, maybe 400 on the high end.

But reefing and marine tanks are not popular and far and few wanting parts let alone a full set up.

Squamtonbc- thats why I sold most to a store simply because there was little interest in a full set up or even items sold seperately.

I think most take a loss when selling their tanks because a lot of ppl are intimidated by SW, the dedication of it, and the cost- so much cheaper to do a cichlid tank or tropical.

I've seen a decline in this hobby in Ontario.
