Hospital tank and QT

I have a question. When buying new fish, if I want to go the hyposalinity route (1.008-9) will it effect the PH, and if so what should I use to keep it at 8.1 or so?

I know the stores have a normal salinity. What kind of time frame is reasonalbe going from 1.024-25 to 1.009-8.

I know hyposalinity will only kill ich. Would I be better to go the cupramine route? I know you cannot mix hypo and other treaments. I want to make sure they are free of diseases and anything else, but would like to go the less stressful route for the fish.
