YaBoyLaj
Ok, so first off I would like to thank Mike and Stu for telling me all about the hobby, where to get livestock and how to keep it happy! And for Mike's amazing AIO temperate tanks! So, This year I had planned to save up money from work and get the tank by July... Well little did I know that my boss would rage at my mom and I and called us some very umm... Interesting names. So saving up from work is out of the question. So, I still have the cold water bug and thought how am I gonna afford this so here's my plan... Sell my 14 gallon biocube that's been empty for a while with the blade led, heater, pump, sand and rock. Sell my BMX bike which new, was almost $450 but after 2 years I'm sure I'll only get like $50. And last is my 16th birthday. 16 is a big one in my family so I'm sure I'll get a bit of cash. Now with being 16 comes a car and with a car comes gas, so I'll need to balance gas money with temperate money, but my grandpa is too lazy to go shopping so he gives me cash... Last year I got $350 from him so who knows maybe I'll get $500 and be like BOOM GET ME A COMPUTER I NEED TO BY A TANK!!! But it's not likely, so the minute I order the tank, I'll start a thread! Woohoo Check out Mike's store! http://micro-reefs.com Link to comment
YaBoyLaj
Ok, so I've been poking around looking for lights that I could use for the tank. I found a par 38 bulb on eBay for 25 bucks, would that work for a small temperate? Link to comment

I found a par 38 bulb on eBay for 25 bucks, would that work for a small temperate? That would be totally fine. There really is not much in temperate waters that is photosynthetic other than a few anemones and the marine algae. So depending on what you want to house I would base your decision around that. If you are not planning to grow lots of macro algae I would use a lower wattage LED just to prevent any unwanted algae growth. Link to comment
YaBoyLaj
That makes sense, I have a bunch of small LEDs from past saltwater tanks so I guess that will do Link to comment
Micro-Reefs Aquariums
Truly inspired by your desire to get immersed into the 55 F degrees of COOLNESS! Young but so dedicated I need to make sure to discount the system when you pull the trigger. Link to comment
