I'm not so good and keeping up-to-date, however, I am going to shoot for a minimum of every other week (for both this thread and the other one) to document the tanks progression. All tips, critiques, etc are welcome as there is ALWAYS something more to learn, so here it goes...

Equipment:

  • IM Fusion 10
  • Skyee Light (most likely to upgrade to Al Prime, as I love it!)
  • IM Desktop Skimmer (still to be set up)
  • Upgraded pumo to Colbalt MJ600
  • 8lbs. BRS reef saver dry rock
  • 8lbs of live sand

Filtration:

  • planning on order InTank media basket tonight x2 (one to go to my other tank)
  • filter floss
  • GFO - ordered
  • Rox Carbon - ordered
  • IM Desktop skimmer - to be hooked up today (I do tank maintenance on Sundays)

CUC:

  • 5 nassarius and 4 a stria snails, for now

Fish:

  • 2 clowns (originally from my BC, which is in the final process of being broken down)
  • midas blenny (transferring from the fusion I have up and running already)

Planned Inverts:

  • cleaner shrimp (transferring from my BC)
  • RFAs
  • tube anenome

Coral Plans:

Green trachphyllia (was already transferred in from BC)

Florida rics (already transferred in 2, one is in the process of splitting, transfer the rest and possibly add)

hammer (have already transferred in)

Acans

additional Euphyllia (at least a frogspawn, and possible another hammer...)

The Initial Setup:

The tank got wet 2/10/16, cyno came and went by 4/30 and the green algae started. I added my CUC 5/7, along with the hammer, green brain, and rics as the lighting went in the BC). The clowns have been together for at least a year, and although they are pairs, the female is terribly awful to the male. He typically wasn't allowed out of the back corner, before she chased him back and he was showing signs of stress. So I transferred him into the fusion 5/22, and added a nano pack of chemo pure blue for the time being. The male clown has regained the bright orange color, as he's become paler. And today, I hope to be able to coax Sunny (midas blenny) out of his hiding and perching spot in my other Fusion to transferring him in later today.

** for some reason, I cannot upload pictures, as I got 'cut off on my other threads post as well... so will try to get a FTS uploaded tonight

Sunny (my Midas Benny) has officially been transferred from my other fusion to this one. Definitely wasn't the easiest transfer as he loves to stick himself in any holes within the rock possible. Sometimes I don't know how he even gets out.

Well he's in, hiding within the large rock currently. It'll probably take a week or so until he's settled enough to get an update shot with the two of them!

It's been awhile, as I was trying to give the tank some time. Unfortunately at this point I do not think that Sunny made it. ? For the first few days I'd been able to see him within the crevices of the rock but I've been unable to see his bright orange self for about a week and I currently am going through a small algae outbreak.

This weekend I will be removing the rock to do a hydrogen scrub to replace and transfer in the other clown. Hopefully this one goes smoother, as she's a little hardier of a fish.

Will post an update this weekend - fingers crossed.

If sunny is possible dead, you would be experiencing a possible spike in ammonia and starting a second cycle.

Make sure to test you water just to be sure before adding your clown.

Ask me how I know this :(

Oh I know I have been, as I have a slight algae break I will be pulling out the tall rock today to do a peroxide dip and it had peaked last weekend, and is receding slowly this week I am going to accelerate the process ? I've done it before myself (when first setting on the BC before I had threads going over 5 yrs ago). Throughout the ups and downs of this hobby I've been able to now notice the "tank signs" and have lowered ammonia by 1g WC every other day this week. Will do a 2g today, to scrub the rock, 1g tomorrow and 1g on transfer day (hopefull Monday dependent upon the weekend).

So whether I like it or not I have been needing to manage things extremely slow due to some outside influences. I have since transferred over the female clown along with cleaner shrimp into the fusion, from my BC, as of this past Saturday and everyone is fine. No squabbling and they almost acted as it they missed each other (could be since I also watching finding dory this past weekend ?). I had also set up the IM desktop skimmer. I was able to work out the micro bubbles, but I'm hearing a grinding noise from the pumps motor that actually loud enough for me to hear from my bathroom across the hall with the door shut! (HUGE ISSUE) ?As its on my desk in my room and I'm an extremely light sleeper and have 2 large dogs that also contribute to my lack of sleep. If anyone has experienced this or has any insight as to how to possibly fix it I'm all ears!!! Hopefully once this is worked out, and major re-working/cleaning of my original fusion we should be having more frequent updates!

So as of now the desktop skimmer in disconnected due to the loudness, I talked with customer service to try and work out the kinks in which they sent me a video as to how to set it up. All of the steps in which I've already done. Today it got a vinegar bath and is now soaking in some salt water to rinse. I ended up doing a 3 gallon water change today, due to some sand vacuuming. I did transfer over 3 rics from my other tank. I'll post a photo later on when the lights come on. Otherwise the tank has been doing well minus the loss of Sunny, but both clows are doing well.
