Tap water quality changes depending on the sources, blends and treatment methods and you never know when that change happens. You want stability. Why invest $10's or more likely $100's in corals, even softies and LPS add up, only to take a chance on tap water since you don't want to spend a nickel a gallon making RO/DI water. For the cost of one good LPS colony you could have a reef quality RO/DI system and have ultimate control of your water quality. I think as reef hobbyists we have an obligation to provide the best environment we can afford for our inhabitants or maybe we should not be in this hobby. Link to comment
