Looks good! That's a really pretty stand :)

Thanks! I like how it turned out, it was kind of blah before the stain.

I agree, the stain really makes the look.

So I have been moving since the 4th. Lost 1 fish in the move but the other 16 fish are doing great so it was a win I think. Some coral did get upset and some parts died off but it is all showing great polyp extension now and should come back. My house is a mess and fish cords everywhere as I have mostly been dropping stuff off and making another 6 hour drive back to finish working and make a 2nd haul.

Moving makes you realize you own too much stuff. I donated a bunch of things and ebayed some.... need to go through my fish stuff and get rid of anything I won't use... too much hoarding for "what if" moments.

Waiting on a hanger to arrive for my lights. Haven't aquascaped yet.... It's a mess.... still unpacking!

Loving the RODI unit. I got the maxcap $300ish dollar version and it works beautifully. Has built in TDS meters to let me know the TDS from 4 different points so I can monitor all the filters. I guess it also comes with better filters than the base unit. Output is 0 ofc. It came a Pre assembled and ready so I just had to buy a hookup for under my sink and I was good to go. Unit seems solid and will last a long time.

Well, I am officially actually living at my apartment now. I pretty much spent all of June driving back and forth 6 hours

Wanted to share this pic of 3 of the smaller tanks lined up on my bar at my old apartment. I had to load the furniture up, thought it kind of looked neat to have them all lined up.

Here is when the coral first arrived, I had no light hanger so the light was on top of the tank and everything was thrown in. Some of the coral did not fair well with the move but is now recovering.

My apartment is called "The Reef" because we are next to/built on an ancient 425 million year old reef that they are working on restoring. They have pictures and fossils from the reef in the clubhouse common area, it's kind of cool. They were giving out free beach towels which I had to have.

They actually let me have my 75g reef tank because they thought it would be "cool to have a reef aquarium at the reef apartments". Even though the lease says no water filled furniture.

I moved all my fuge and some of the rock on June 4th, and the fish came June 13th. I did get a cycle sometime between the 4th and the 13th but it was all stable by the time the fish went in. The fish caused massive hair algae in the fuge area on the glass. Nothing grew on the rock thank god, maybe because the rock is established?

I forgot to take a picture before I started scraping but here is a picture after I scrubbed the glass clean. I did a 100% w/c on the fuge and removed all that GHA.

Rock in the bucket while I do the water change, no GHA on it to be seen!

Here is a shot of the tank from today, I am still working on the scape (not happy with the left side). I need to clean up that ugly pump cord on the back too :> I am not sure I want to paint the back of the tank, I am digging the blue light bouncing off the wall.

I went with an iquatics hanging light from EU. It was spendy but I am happy with it... just need to get a proper attachment to the light instead of the giant hooks the light came with.

Anywho that is about how far I have gotten :)

Yey! Moved in. That's wonderful that they let you have the tanks. "Water filled furniture"----never heard anyone put it that way in a lease.

That would've been horrible to move and then find out you couldn't. Just meant to be for you, beach towels & all.

Yeah, I think for waterbeds and such? I definitely let them know about the tank before I signed the lease. It wasn't really something I was willing to negotiate. I let them know it was a brand new tank on a solid wood stand and that it had a leak detector and a camera to monitor it from my phone. I basically told them I care as much if not more about the livestock than they did about potential water damage to their floors. I breathed a sigh of relief when told me I sounded like I knew what I was doing and they thought it would be a cool idea.

I def had a few apartments turn me down when I was looking, it's not easy to find a place with a big tank and 2 cats who I won't declaw.

Looking good! Scaping is always is pain!

Thanks!!! It is even worse when the tank is 21 inches deep and on an extra tall stand. I place some rocks but can't see what I'm doing and have to climb down the 2-step to look and then back up again.

It looks really good so far! I love the color of the light, and I agree, don't paint the back because the glow off the back wall really makes the look complete. You just have to figure out a way to hide the cords :D

I see what you mean about the left side. Maybe if if right side was higher it would look better though. Maybe either one more rock on the far right, or just get some taller corals like gorgs or branching SPS?

Scape definitely needs some height, but it would be cool if you kept the pathway down the middle. I used branching rocks to prop up shelf rocks in my tank, and it turned out pretty neat. just an idea.

Btw, what's a leak detector? Really cool of your apartment peoples to let you keep a tank :)

I like the 2 islands you have going. And of course, a rock flower, yey!!

I got 5 of them! :D

Thanks! The light is a nano-box/t5 retro, they are definitely as nice as everyone says. I am thinking the left side needs to be smaller and built up a bit. I was mad googling scapes for larger tanks and hoping to get the 2 island thing like this:

I agree with the height. A leak detector works with apex to email me when water is detected on the floor or in the stand or wherever I have a sensor. Apex sells a pre-made one but they can be made as well for apex with some speaker wire: http://www.instructables.com/id/Super-Simple-Aquarium-Leak-Detector/

Worked on the scape more, removed some corals I felt would be invasive and hard to control in a 75g, fragged some zoas too.

Where the scape is now. Need to remove some more mushrooms and clean the stuff off the sand bed. My frag racks are full.

Did some tests today to see where I am at since I haven't started dosing yet.

NO3: 0

Ca: 425 (good)

KH: 7 (low end, aim for 9 maybe?)

PO4: 0.17 (high, don't have the GFO going yet, better get on that)

Mg: 1260 (low, aim for 1425?)

Levels are okay - except for the PO4 for a young tank. KH could use a boost.

Thanks Kat!

I am guessing it had something to do with the rock that was tossed in the sump in a huge pile because the sump was FILTHY after removing the rock, huge pile of debris on the bottom. I added the rock into the sump in beginning of June and didn't get moved in till end of June, so it went a month without a water change, eek! My skimmer quit working while I was away too, a snail plugged it up :furious:

Hopefully I can get the PO4 back down.
